Biography
IT Riccardo de Torrebruna è nato a Roma, dove attualmente vive.
E' laureato in Filosofia.
Lavora come attore in Italia e all’estero e si dedica assiduamente alla scrittura (romanziere, drammaturgo, sceneggiatore) e alla regia.
Come attore lavora, tra gli altri, con Marco Bellocchio, Liliana Cavani, Giuseppe Piccioni, Carlo Mazzacurati, Peter Patzak.
Come regista di teatro ha diretto numerosi spettacoli in Italia.
Il suo testo, “Zoo Paradiso”, è andato in scena nel ’96 all’Actors Studio di New York con la regia di Susan Batson, di cui è stato allievo e collaboratore.
In Italia, ha vinto il premio Enrico Maria Salerno per la drammaturgia.
La sua pièce “Gay Panic”, andata in scena al Teatro Belli di Roma nel 2008, ha vinto il Premio Oltreparola per la drammaturgia.
Nel 2000 ha esordito nella narrativa con “Tocco Magico Tango”, Minimum Fax.
Nel 2003 ha pubblicato “Storie di Ordinario Amore” con Fandango Libri.
Nel 2007, con E/O, ha pubblicato insieme a Luigi Turinese, “Hahnemann. Vita del padre dell’Omeopatia.”
E’ tra gli autori del “Dizionario Affettivo delle Lingua Italiana” edito da Fandango nel 2008.
Nel 2011 ha scritto, diretto e interpretato “Beauty is Difficult” (Una Gabbia per Ezra Pound) al teatro Argot di Roma.
Nel 2012 scrive e dirige, “La Giustizia è un Vento”, Storie di Morte nelle carceri italiane, ispirato al libro inchiesta di Luca Cardinalini .
Nel 2013 mette in scena a Roma, “Zoo Paradiso” per la ricorrenza del ventennale dell’assedio di Sarajevo.
Nel 2014 pubblica il romanzo Blood & Breakfast, edito da Ensemble.
Nel 2015 pubblica Hahnemann, Diario di un Guaritore, edito da Mincione Edizioni.
Nel 2015 adatta per il teatro e mette in scena "Nella Cattedrale", dal racconto di Raymond Carver.
Lo stesso anno,scrive insieme a Marco Risi la sceneggiatura del film,
"Tre Tocchi".
Scrive "West End", uno spettacolo di teatro danza, per la coreografa Chiara Frigo, messo in scena al teatro India nel Roma Europa Festival 2015, e poi invitato al Bassano Opera Festival e in altri festival internazionali.
Nel 2016 esce il suo romanzo, "Mardjan", edito da Ensemble e ambientato tra Parigi e l’Africa, frutto di una gestazione di oltre sei anni e di due sopralluoghi in Tanzania e Zanzibar.
Nel 2017, scrive Stormy, per il Balletto di Roma, con la coreografia di Chiara Frigo, in scena al Festival di Civitanova Marche e al teatro Vascello di Roma all'interno del progetto Triptic.
Nel 2017, esce la seconda edizione ampiamente riveduta e corretta di "Tocco Magico Tango" per l’editore Ensemble.
Nel 2018 scrive e dirige "Disturbo della Quiete Pubblica", una pièce ispirata al lavoro di John Cassavetes.
In quanto Specialista del "Metodo delle Azioni Fisiche”, frutto dei suoi studi universitari e della sua esperienza teatrale e cinematografica, dirige a Roma lo Studio Acting Itaka, dove insegna stabilmente dal ‘98.
Nel 2018 pubblica "Crollo di Atlante" con edizioni Ensamble.
Nel 2021 scrive la sceneggiatura del film "Il Punto di Rugiada" del regista Marco Risi, e pubblica il suo ultimo romanzo "La Ragazza di Donetsk" con edizioni Ensamble.
EN Riccardo de Torrebruna was born in Rome, where he lives and works. He has a University degree in Phlosophy.
In his years at the university he studies in depth the Stanislavsky legacy in America. In New York, he meets Lee Strasberg and attends at the classes that the old master gives at the Actors Studio.
From this period he gets tools of method that he has used in his career as an actor (working, among the others, with Marco Bellocchio, Liliana Cavani, Peter Patzak, Giuseppe Piccioni, Carlo Mazzacurati) and as a writer and director.
He has directed various plays he wrote: "L'ultimo miraggio di Andreas Roth", da J. Roth.
"Quando eravamo nel boom (Gli anni ’60 dal rosa al nero)".
"Il viaggio di Pallina Rossetti", da G. De Maupassant.
"L'ispettore", an adaptation from the play of N. Gogol.
"Senza fissa dimora", a play about the condition of the homeless.
"Zoo Paradiso", inspired by the siege of Sarajevo is on stage in ’96 at the Actors Studio in New York, directed by Susan Batson and supervised by Arthur Penn.
In the same year the play gains the prize E. Maria Salerno for dramaturgy in Italy.
In 2000, his first novel, "Tocco Magico Tango" is published by Minimum Fax. The novel is the result of years of research on the case of the first Italian television trauma, the tragedy of Vermicino, where a six years old kid got trapped in a hole and died “en direct”.
In 2003, a collection of short stories "Storie di Ordinario Amore" is edited by Fandango.
In 2007, "Hahnemann. Vita del padre dell’Omeopatia". on the life of the doctor who created Homeopathy, is edited by E/O.
In 2008 he is among the writers of the "Dizionario Affettivo della Lingua Italiana", edited by Fandango.
In 2009, his play, "Gay Panic", (edited by La Mongolfiera) on a case of homosexuality between an american marine and a young iraquian soldier, in Iraq, wins the prize "Oltreparola" for dramaturgy.
He writes and directs. "L’Onda del Desiderio. Pasolini dal Tevere a Ostia".
In 2011, he writes and directs "Beauty is Difficult (a cage for Ezra Pound),". The play deals with the case of the american poet, kept prisoner into a naked cage by the American army, in Livorno, Italy, under the accusation of betrayal.
In 2012, he writes and directs "La Giustizia è un Vento", about the dramatic state of the italian prisons.
In 2013 he directs "Zoo Paradiso", in Rome for the 20th of the Sarajevo siege.
In 2014, his novel, "Blood&Breakfast" is published by Ensemble.
In 2015 "Hahnemann, a Diary of a Healer", by Mincione Edizioni
In 2015 he writes and directs a theater adaptation of Raymnod Carver's novel, "Nella Cattedrale".
The same year he writes with Marco Risi the screenplay for the film
"Tre Tocchi".
